Costa Blanca – attractions of the region. What to see during the holidays?

Over 250 km of coastline, charming towns, high mountains and more than 300 days of sunshine a year. These are just some of the tourist attractions of the Costa Blanca region. What are the biggest attractions of the coast and what to see during your holiday?

The Costa Blanca is a region located in the province of Alicante in the Valencia region. The White Coast owes its name to the sandy beaches stretching from Pilar de la Horadada in the south to the town of Denia in the north. Due to its extremely varied landscape and the presence of numerous monuments, the Costa Blanca is considered one of the most beautiful corners of Spain. Here is a short selection of the region’s highlights!

Alicante – the capital of the region

Alicante is considered to be the unofficial capital of the Costa Blanca. The historic port city is famous for its beautiful beaches and monuments present on every corner. One of the most important of them is the Castle of St. Barbara, built on the Benacantil hill above the city. It is worth taking a moment to stroll through the old town and stop for a moment in the former Arab medina of Santa Cruz. Also noteworthy are the Mediterranean residential buildings, i.e., white houses decorated with azulejos tiles and flowerpots.

Elche – The Green Enclave

The Costa Blanca boasts a diverse landscape and a wealth of nature. High mountains and rocky coasts are intertwined with atmospheric bays and farmland. Among them there is also El Palmeral, which is the largest palm grove in Europe, within which over 200 thousand trees have been preserved, some of which are even 300 years old. In the grove you can also admire orange, lemon and garant trees. The site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Benidrom – the largest resort of the Costa Blanca

Benidrom is a proposition for fans of water sports and nightlife. The resort has a reputation for never falling asleep and there is a lot of truth in that. Numerous nightclubs and restaurants await tourists, as well as wide sandy beaches with water sports equipment rental. The tall hotel buildings are why Benidrom is called the “New York of the Mediterranean”. When visiting the resort, be sure to go to the famous Mirador del Castillo observation deck. The views are unforgettable!

Altea – Santorini, Spain

Altea is a small and extremely picturesque town located on the slopes of the Sierra de Bernia. In the 60s, the former fishing village became an enclave of Spanish artists, who gave it a unique atmosphere. Attention is drawn to the narrow-cobbled streets, characteristic white houses and numerous restaurants and pubs where you can taste the local cuisine and listen to live music.

Valley of Guadalest

A picturesque valley in a mountainous area with a famous turquoise lake. Its most characteristic point is the Arab castle Castillo de San Jose, whose walls offer a unique view of the waters of the lake. The oldest part of the city – La Villa, is formed by a fortress with a historic town and two castles. There are many shops with souvenirs and local handicrafts, as well as numerous eateries and museums.
